About a year ago now I visited a wonderful project in a remote part of Assam, in North East India. The project was set up by the Tata Trust to encourage and support women to develop their traditional hand-loom skills. I was so impressed with these women and their wonderful creativity and enthusiasm that I commissioned some cotton using their designs.

It’s been a very long journey to get these two lovely designs to this point – the challenges these women face have been hugely increased by severe flooding and of course the impact of the pandemic has made things even more difficult. Anyway – that’s a long way round for telling you how thrilled we are with the result – these beautiful, subtle lampshades also have a story to tell!
